Kappa League Public Safety Career Day

Kappa Leaguers recently participated in an exciting and educational Public Safety Career Day, where they explored the world of firefighting and law enforcement up close.

The day kicked off with a visit from Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue, who arrived at the frat house with a full-sized fire truck. Firefighters shared personal stories from the field, answered questions, and gave a hands-on tour of the truck. Leaguers had the chance to see the equipment used in emergency situations, try on gear, and gain a better understanding of the physical and mental demands of the profession.

Later, BSO Deputy JT Mallory joined the event, bringing along his police cruiser and a full display of law enforcement tools, equipment, and weaponry. Deputy Mallory spoke with the young men about his experiences in the field, provided insight into the responsibilities of a deputy, and encouraged thoughtful questions about careers in public safety.

The event gave Kappa Leaguers valuable exposure to two vital and impactful career paths, while also reinforcing the importance of service, discipline, and leadership. It was a powerful reminder that community starts with those who are willing to protect it.

Special thanks to Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue and Deputy Mallory for inspiring the next generation of leaders.
