Welcome to the official home of the Kappa League of Fort Lauderdale!

My name is David King, and I am honored to serve as President of the Fort Lauderdale Kappa League. This Kappa League is an organization built on the foundation of leadership, academic achievement, and community service. We are a village and it is our duty to uphold a standard of excellence that pushes us to be better men each and every day.

This website is your window into our journey and our commitment to that very excellence. Here, you'll discover updates on our events, volunteer service projects, leadership experiences, and the lasting memories we make along the way. From career expositions and college tours to dedicated community service, from deep conversations that expand our minds to just having fun and building brotherhood; we are dedicated to building something very special together. We are focused on cultivating not just good résumés, but strong characters.

From Youth, Through Teaching, To Leadership

The Fort Lauderdale Kappa League is a leadership development and college readiness program serving young men in grades 7–12 throughout Broward County and South Florida.

Our program prepares young men for college, careers, civic leadership, and lifelong success by combining leadership training, financial literacy, community service, public speaking, career exploration, civic engagement, STEM experiences, and postsecondary readiness into one unified developmental experience.

More than a traditional mentoring program, the Fort Lauderdale Kappa League operates as a structured developmental institution focused on building capable, empowered, and prepared young men who are ready to succeed in every environment they enter. We believe leadership is not something young men simply grow into, it must be intentionally developed through consistent discipline, exposure, education, and opportunity.

2025–2026 School Year Highlights

  • Aviation and Flight Operations Day (Apr. '26)

    Leaguers visited Miami Air Traffic Control. They were introduced to the operations of the airspace, how aircraft are coordinated, and the level of focus and precision required to do the job effectively.

  • Model African Union (Mar. '26)

    Each Leaguer represented an African country as its Minister of Education, researching challenges and preparing a speech on how education can shape a country’s future.

  • Venture Capital Summit (Feb. '26)

    Each Leaguer was given a “masked” company and had to present a plan to an Investment Panel without knowing the real company behind it. They asked for funding, explained their strategy, and defend every choice.

  • STEM Applied Learning Weekend (Jan. '26)

    Over the course of 3 days, Leaguers took part in the iFLY STEM Experience, visited the Kennedy Space Center, and experienced in the Mars Base simulation.

  • Applied Aviation and Flight Day (Jan. '26)

    Leaguers learned about different careers in aviation, got up close with real training aircraft., and used simulators to test their skills flying a Cessna 172, an F-16, and a helicopter.

  • Turkey Give-away (Nov. '25)

    In collaboration with Pompano Beach Kappa League, Leaguer gave out over 150 turkeys and baskets to families in the Golden Acres Community.

  • Kappa Kamp: Convivia (Nov. '25)

    Joined with West Palm Beach and Pompano Beach Kappa Leagues, Leaguers participated in a 3 day camp learning about Attitude, Tying Ties, Dressing Professionally, and more.

  • Mock Legislature (Oct. '25)

    Kappa Leagues from Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties came together to participate in a Mock State Legislature to debate local issues.

  • 40th Coastal Clean-up (Sept. '25)

    Kappa Leaguers showed up strong for the 40th Annual Coastal Cleanup at Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park.

  • Black Men in Tech THRIVE Conference (Oct. '25)

    Leaguers participated in interactive workshops on Gaming and Evolving Technology. Thereafter, they participated in a Lunch & Learn session.

  • Broward Partnership Visit (Aug '25)

    The Executive Cabinet visited the Broward Partnership Fort Lauderdale Center to help give meals to unhoused members of the community.

  • Broward Judicial Complex Visit (Jul. '25)

    Broward Judicial Complex Visit (Jul. '25)

    Leaguer visited the Broward Judicial Complex and met with judges within the Juvenile and Domestic Violence Divisions. Thereafter, they had lunch with the Assistant City Attorney of Pompano Beach.

  • Port of Palm Beach (Jul. '25)

    Kappa Leaguer visited the Port of Palm Beach to learn more about Global Trade and its economic impact.
